Next to its whaling history, Nantucket’s architecture is our island’s most treasured historic legacy. The protection and preservation of this legacy ensures that Nantucket will not lose its link with the past and will continue to be considered one of the world’s most beautiful places. Unfortunately the architecture of the past often does not afford its inhabitants the accoutrements of today’s modern lifestyle.

Cottage & Castle has extensive experience in renovation and structure relocation. Our crews have renovated twenty eight buildings and moved seven structures, while preserving existing features, with strict adherence to our clients’ wishes. During careful renovation and reuse we are able to equip historic buildings with the conveniences of the modern luxury home: an airtight building envelope, efficient heating and cooling systems, efficient task lighting, state of the art audio, visual and information technology systems, and all the amenities afforded in luxury kitchens and baths.
